WHY POROUS SURFACES NEED STRIPPING AFTER BEING SEALED:
NEW INSTALLATIONS:
- Surface may not have been correctly cleaned before sealing.
- Incorrect sealer may have been applied.
- Surface may have been damp or wet causing the sealer to turn white or peel.
- Efflorescence may become pronounced after washing & sealing.
- Sealer may have become dirty during installation.
- Rising damp or moisture may be causing sealer failure.
EXISTING FLOORS:
- Sealer or polish may have worn or become damaged.
- Sealer or polish may be old or be peeling due to factors above.
- Old surfaces may have been incorrectly sealed and may not be performing as desired.
NEW INSTALLATIONS:
In the above instance the procedure would be the same. Stripping of the sealer would be required from either the entire area or from the areas that are affected. Once the sealer has been removed the surface should be carefully examined to access whether the problem has been resolved. In the event the surface is still dirty the correct cleaner needs to be selected. Consult the cleaner selection chart or HOW TO: CLEAN brochure.
EXISTING FLOORS:
In the above instance it is important to establish whether the sealer or the polish requires stripping. In the case of a polish, the polish can be stripped without stripping the sealer underneath by selecting the correct stripper. In the case of a sealer, the sealer will require complete removal. The surface should be carefully examined to access whether the problem has been resolved after stripping.
STRIPPER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Recommended stripper for waxes and polishes : WAX-OFF™
Recommended stripper for repellents : WAX-OFF™
Recommended stripper for resin type sealers : STRIPP-OFF™
STRIPPER SELECTION:
The intended purpose of a stripper is to remove the sealer or polish as effectively and quickly as possible without damage to the surface or tile. Different types of strippers are required based on the type of floor or tile and the type of sealer or polish.
