A diamond grinding cup is a circular grinding tool with diamond segments bonded around its working edge. It is designed to grind hard materials such as concrete, masonry and stone using a compatible grinder.
Diamond grinding cups are commonly used for concrete surface preparation, material removal, coating removal, levelling high spots and preparing floors before the installation of coatings or other flooring systems.
The diamond segments provide the cutting action while the cup's design determines how aggressively the tool removes material and how it performs on different substrates.

What is a diamond grinding cup?
A diamond grinding cup is a grinding tool with diamond segments designed to remove material from hard surfaces such as concrete, masonry and stone.
What is a turbo segmented diamond grinding cup?
A turbo segmented diamond grinding cup uses a turbo-style segmented diamond pattern designed to provide fast and aggressive grinding action.
What are diamond grinding cups used for?
Diamond grinding cups are used for concrete grinding, masonry grinding, surface preparation and the removal of coatings such as epoxy, glue, mastic, paint and floor coverings.
What is the difference between a grinding cup and a cutting blade?
A grinding cup is designed primarily for surface grinding and material removal, while a cutting blade is designed to cut through concrete, masonry or other materials.
What grit diamond grinding cup should I use?
The correct grit depends on the application. Coarser configurations are generally selected for aggressive material and coating removal, while finer configurations can be used for more controlled surface preparation.
What diamond grinding cup is best for concrete?
The best cup depends on the concrete hardness, abrasiveness, required removal rate and desired surface preparation. ROX® offers different grit and bond configurations for different concrete grinding applications.
Can diamond grinding cups remove epoxy?
Yes. The ROX® Professional range is made for the removal of surface coatings including epoxy.
Can diamond grinding cups remove glue?
Yes. The professional grinding-cup range is made for removing glue, mastic and other floor-covering residues.
Can a diamond grinding cup grind masonry?
Yes. The ROX® Professional range is made for grinding concrete and masonry surfaces.
Are these grinding cups suitable for floor grinders?
Yes. The 125 mm and 180 mm versions can be used on compatible ROX® Falcon floor grinders.
Can I use a 125 mm grinding cup on a 180 mm grinder?
The grinding cup should only be used with equipment for which its diameter, mounting arrangement and operating specifications are compatible. Check the machine and accessory specifications before use.
What is silver brazed on a diamond grinding cup?
Silver brazing is a method used to attach the diamond segments to the tool. The ROX® Professional range uses silver-brazed diamond grinding construction.
What is the difference between soft and hard diamond bonds?
Bond selection relates to the material being ground. Different bond hardnesses are used to optimise diamond exposure and wear characteristics on different substrates.
Are turbo grinding cups good for aggressive concrete grinding?
Yes. The ROX® Professional turbo segmented design is specifically for providing very fast and aggressive cutting action.
Can diamond grinding cups be used for epoxy floor preparation?
Yes. Diamond grinding cups can be used for concrete grinding and removal of existing coatings as part of suitable epoxy flooring preparation.
